I've been following Motorola for a while... a year or so ago they patented
a method allowing their 64bit CPUs to run the 32bit stuff back to back. ie
no recompile and it uses the registers properly, no incoherences or
changing logic path
...64Bit aint new either, of course...SUN have had it for ages with
their UltraSparc and Alphas have been 64bit for a long time too.
this recent talk about how 64bits is going to rule (welcome kiddies from
Slashdot) is really quite tiresome. their fervour for 128bit CPUs is also
unfounded, THEY TOO have been around for quite some time....welcome
to the world of non-mass produced computers ;-)
